Great line-up of entertainment at the Pillar House Folk Club

The schedule at the Pillar House Folk Club is already underway with a super performance by Eleanor Shanley in October.

This coming Friday, November 18, renowned singer-songwriter, Brian Kennedy, will be welcomed back to the Pillar House for the second time. This kicks off a great few months of entertainment scheduled for the Pillar House.

Do not miss the opportunity to see The Four of Us on Wednesday, December 28. The band, made up of Newry brothers Declan and Brendan Murphy, is currently touring and in November played Vicar Street in Dublin on the back of the recent album launch - Sugar Island. Their previous performance in The Pillar House brought the house down with hits such as “Mary” and “Drag My Bad Name Down”.

Don Stiffe is a folk singer/songwriter and his singing prowess is up there with the greats that Ireland has produced. A passionate singer, his live performances are always impressive, as those who have seen him perform in Ireland, Europe, or the United States will testify. Ballinasloe will have the opportunity to hear him live when he plays at The Pillar House on Friday, January 20. Don has been a professional musician since the 1980s when he lived in Boston. Since returning to Ireland he has released his own CDs and has written songs which have been recorded by Séan Keane and Cherish The Ladies.

Friday, February 24, will bring Leslie Dowdall & Mike Hanrahan to The Pillar House. Leslie Dowdall is the voice and songwriter behind the sound that was In Tua Nua. Mike Hanrahan is the voice and songwriter that was Stocktons Wing, and together they have released their version of Antony & The Johnson’s “You Are My Sister”. Leslie and Mike occasionally perform at intimate venues and their Pillar House gig is surely going to be one of the highlights of their coming tour. The live show features Leslie on vocal, keyboard, and guitar and Mike on guitars and vocal.
