Works on St Vincent’s Care Centre proceeding according to schedule

Work at St Vincent’s Care Centre is on schedule for completion and the centre should be operational by March 2017.

That is according to Mr Pat Bennett, Chief Officer for Community Healthcare Organisation for Longford, Westmeath, Laois, Offaly, Louth, and Meath. Mr Bennett was responding to a motion raised by local Fianna Fáil councillor, Frankie Keena, at the Regional Health Forum for Dublin and Mid Leinster recently.

Mr Bennett told the forum that the extent of the works being undertaken consist of the complete rewiring of all electrical services throughout the building to provide a level of services to current requirements and standards. The works cover all electrical services including extra low voltage services and low voltage distribution services and will meet the needs of the premises going forward.

In conjunction with the rewiring, the HSE have taken the opportunity to upgrade the clinical wash hand basins in direct patient care areas to meet current HTM Standards and have also incorporated an element of works associated with the division of a number of the existing multi bed wards to provide much improved patient accommodation in a number of reconfigured single, double and three bedded rooms.

The previously existing medium-level glazed screens have been removed throughout patient care areas and reconfigured to the most appropriate layouts achievable for residents’ comfort and care that can be accommodated within the timeframe available. The entire unit will, as part of the completion of the works, be painted fully throughout.

Mr Bennett added that at this time there are no apparent or foreseen delays in achieving the March deadline.
