Slick production of Neil Simon comedy opens Little Theatre season

Athlone Little Theatre is to open its autumn season on Thursday, September 15 with Neil Simon’s fast-paced comedy Laughter on the 23rd Floor.

Pulitzer-prizewinning playwright Neil Simon got his first big break in the early 1950s as a staff writer on Sid Caesar’s fabled television series Your Show of Shows. Basing this play on his experience there, he created an incredibly witty behind-the-scenes look at writing comedy by committee, and the backstage chaos that went into producing one of the landmarks of American television’s golden age.

Director Mel O’Flynn gives the experienced actors of the Little Theatre an equally golden opportunity to show how versatile they are in tackling comic roles - they are joined by a number of new faces who bring their own talents to this very slick production.

Laughter on the 23rd Floor will run nightly at 8pm from Thursday to Thursday, September 15-22 at Athlone Little Theatre, St Mary’s Place, Athlone. For online bookings see www.athlonelittletheatre.ie or phone (090 ) 6474324. Please note this production contains strong language and is not suitable for children.

This amateur production of Laughter on the 23rd Floor is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, LTD.
