Evolve and entertain with George Foreman

Summer parties and barbecues can end up being more stressful than anticipated. This summer, eliminate the stress of summer cookouts by purchasing the 5 Portion Evolve Grill System (RRP €199.99 ) from George Foreman. With a large enough grill capacity to cater for family meals, and removable, dishwasher-safe plates, the Evolve Grill System also has a unique ‘sear’ function that gives a boost of 260C heat for 90 seconds, ideal for sealing meat, chicken, and fish to lock in the flavour.

The George Foreman Red Evolve not only comes with the standard non-stock ceramic coated plates but also with two interchangeable omelette plates and a deep pan attachment. These useful and modern features make the 5 Portion Evolve Grill System a kitchen essential, this summer and all year round. George Foreman grills are available nationwide from independent retailers.

Fillet steak with tomato concasse

Serves 4

4 fillet steaks

1 clove garlic

Tomato concasse:

2 tbsp olive oil

2 onions, finely chopped

450g tin tomatoes, drained and chopped

1 bay leaf

1/4 tsp thyme

Grated zest of half an orange

Pinch of saffron (optional )

1 large clove garlic, crushed

Salt and pepper

Heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the onions until they’re just translucent. Add the tomatoes, then the other concasse ingredients, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the concasse is thick and rich.

Preheat the grill to maximum temperature. Cut the garlic clove in half and rub the cut side over the surface of the fillets. Lay the fillets on the grill, and cook for 5-8 minutes, depending on how you like your steak cooked. Then allow to rest for five minutes in a warm place.

Put a portion of concasse on a plate, lay the steak on top, and then pour a little more concasse over it. Serve with a salad of your choice.

This concasse is great with fish and chicken too. If using a George Foreman Evolve grill, use the ‘sear’ function to achieve a perfectly cooked steak.
