Begin your journey to better hearing with Specsavers’ mobile hearing van

To celebrate the fifth year of the Specsavers’ Sound Check Ireland Roadshow, Specsavers has announced that it will be introducing two mobile hearing vans to travel the length and breadth of the country throughout the year raising awareness of the importance of hearing.

These special mobile hearing vans are designed to make it even easier for people to take the first step in tackling hearing loss. Free on-site hearing screenings and professional advice will be available to anyone who is concerned about their hearing.

The hearing van will be visiting Golden Island Shopping Centre, Athlone on Thursday, May 12, and SuperValu, Monksland, on Saturday, May 14.

Director at Specsavers Athlone and Longford, Keith McCallion, said: “Untreated hearing loss can impact negatively on all areas of daily life so if you suspect that someone close to you struggles with their hearing, don’t let them suffer in silence and encourage them to seek advice”.

Untreated hearing loss can affect every aspect of life and lead to depression and social isolation which is why early diagnosis is key. Identifying the problem early and addressing hearing loss with an expert can mean preserving the ability to communicate with friends and family well into later life.

Regular hearing checks should be part of everyone’s healthcare routine. Specsavers recommend that people aged 55 or more get a hearing test every two years.
