Two major drug seizures have been made by Gardaí in Athlone in the past week.
Last Friday, February 22, heroin with a street value of €10,000 and cocaine worth €2,000 were recovered by Gardaí as part of a targeted operation into drug supply in the town.
Six houses were searched early on Friday morning - five in Marine View and one in the Hillcourt estate - where heroin worth €10,000, cocaine worth €2,000, a small amount of cannabis, a substantial amount of cash, and various items of drug paraphenalia were seized.
Three local men were arrested following the raids, two in their 30s and one in his 20s.
On Tuesday this week, heroin with a street value of €43,000, and amphetamine worth €2,500 were discovered as part of a targeted car stop and search at Abbey Road, Athlone.
The driver of the car, a local man aged 35, was arrested at the scene.
