RTÉ‘s Cathal Murray returns to host the Samaritan Christmas Concert

RTE’s Cathal Murray will return to his homeland of Athlone to host the 24th annual Samaritans Christmas Concert on December 10.

Cathal Murray was raised in Retreat Heights, Athlone, and started his broadcasting career in Midlands 103. In 2001 he moved to RTÉ where he currently presents The Weekend on One with Cathal Murray every Saturday and Sunday morning from 6-8am on RTÉ Radio 1. He also deputises for Ronan Collins. When not listening to music, he breaks, on average, three squash rackets a year, has run two marathons and is not planning on a third. Cathal said: “I’m delighted to be hosting it again, it’s always a very special occasion”.
