Last chance to catch landscape exhibition

‘Gorse’ by Rosemarie Langtry

‘Gorse’ by Rosemarie Langtry

A selection of art works by Abbey Road Studio’s resident artist Rosemarie Langtry are currently on display in the lower ground level of Athlone’s Luan Gallery.

Rosemarie’s beautiful works in encaustic are spontaneous and inspired by nature and are catching the eye of savvy buyers.

Using paint and layers of encaustic, she creates work that encapsulates the atmosphere and emotion of the Irish landscape. She enjoys the spontaneity of painting to create colourful and inspired works depicting boglands while incorporating natural elements including bog cotton and flora found near her home place of Ballinahown.

Also on display are some of her recent works which Rosemarie completed while on an artist’s retreat in Cill Rialaig, Ballinskelligs, Co Kerry. Rosemarie states that she found inspiration in the surrounding rugged landscapes and seascape of Co Kerry.

Assistant Manager at Athlone Art & Tourism Aedín McGinn said:“We are delighted to have works by the very talented Rosemarie Langtry on display. The show has proved most popular since it opened ... and has gained much interest from visitors both local and international.”

Buyers from Dublin and the UK have already purchased works from the display proving Rosemarie’s commercial appeal.

This is the first of four showcases to be featured in the Boardwalk Gallery space at Luan Gallery. Over the next number of months, displays featuring the works of the current studio artists will be presented, shining light on the activity and talent in Abbey Road Artists’ Studios. Clodagh Kelly, Niamh Dalby, and Tina Hayes will each be featured between now and Christmas.

The exhibition runs until the end of August.

Luan Gallery is open Tuesday – Saturday 11am - 5pm and Sunday 12 – 5pm. For more information email  [email protected] or call (090 ) 6442154.
