Inclement weather won’t stop the festivals going ahead!

The weather may not be festival-friendly, but that’s not going to stop the music going ahead! There are still plenty of major music events in the Midlands and beyond before summer officially ends - including the much-loved Castlepalooza music and arts festival.

Held as usual at Charleville Castle, Tullamore, it runs this weekend from Friday, July 31 to Sunday August 2, and includes a diverse selection of both Irish and international acts. These include Fight Like Apes, Jape, I have a Tribe and Of Montreal. Billed as a green festival,  according to organisers promises “great music; merriment; magic; madness and mind-blowing memories”.

Later next month it’s Tuam’s Sugar Beat Festival (August 22-23 ), which has announced has added more acts to its line-up.

The festival had previously announced that The Stunning would headline this year’s event.

Now they have revealed that Ryan Sheridan, ORB (formerly The Original Rudeboys ) and Louis Walsh’s boyband Hometown will be joining them.

Also on the bill are Amazing Apples, Rackhouse Pilfer and Big Generator, Too Much for the Whiteman, My Fellow Sponges, Seamus Rutledge and the Full Outfit, Dan & Dylan, Joe Fury & the Hayride, Rugged Wood, Spyfu and The Risers.

The programme will run from 12.30-10.30pm on Saturday, and 12.30-9.30pm on Sunday, with further acts to be announced. For more information see www.sugarbeat.ie

With a record breaking sell-out, Electric Picnic 2015 adds 21 extra acts to the line-up! With just six weeks to go, the grounds keepers in Stradbally Hall are perfecting the rolling fields in County Laois to welcome a further 21 acts to an already bulging line-up up for Electric Picnic 2015.

Having last played in 2013, The Boomtown Rats will be making a very welcome return to Electric Picnic. Curiosity resurrected The Boomtown Rats in 2013 and is sure to attract a huge crowd to their set in Stradbally Hall this September. The Boomtown Rats first exploded out of Ireland in 1976 and nearly 40 years later, we know they still don’t like Mondays!

Blur, Florence and The Machine, Sam Smith, Underworld, Grace Jones, Manic Street Preachers, Interpol, Róisín Murphy, Tame Impala, Hot Chip, and Belle & Sebastian all set for the stage, it’s a truly breathtaking line-up. Electric Picnic runs from September 4-6 and is already sold out.
