Nursing students participate in Shave or Dye fundraiser

Their t-shirts say ‘Bad hair, good cause’ and the newly dyed locks of the fundraising AIT nursing students don’t give lie to that.

The class of second year students are taking part in Today FM’s Shave or Dye or Oh My! event and hope to raise €1,000 for the Irish Cancer Society. Opting for colours best described as lurid rather than subtle, the student nurses were a striking presence on campus.

According to event organiser, Tom Nally, from Mullingar, “The Irish Cancer Society is probably something very close to all of us in nursing, as we have seen at first hand the bravery of people suffering from cancer and the unbelievable care that is given to them by our colleagues on ward.”

Describing the response of his classmates to Shave or Dye as “very enthusiastic and humbling”, Tom said that, “if this is a success, I’d hope to grow the event and indeed do others”.
