The SuperValu French wine sale is back and promises something for the wine connoisseur and novice alike. SuperValu has sourced some of the best wines France has to offer, with a selection that offers wines full of character at an amazing price. With high quality wines that are great value, the French wine sale promises something for every wine-loving customer. With the help of SuperValu wine buyer Kevin O’Callaghan, SuperValu has handpicked a selection of stellar wines and is bringing France to customers’ homes. The sale begins Thursday February 12.

With the three for €25 offer on selected favourites such as Coteaux De Giennois, Domaine Cristia Grenache, and Cuvee Ines from Minervois, the wine sale is a great opportunity for wine-loving customers to try new and exciting wines.

SuperValu wine buyer, Kevin O’Callaghan, has put together a selection of some of the most sought after French wines available in the sale, at exceptional value, including:

Cotes Du Catalan Carignan, €10 - This wine is made with hand harvested grapes and has intense black fruits, spices, and violet tones. The palate is concentrated and well balanced. The vines are located on degraded shale soil, on the foothills of the Pyrenees, overlooking the Roussillon plain.

Domaine Cristia Grenache, Red, €10 - This is a rounded, supple, medium to full-bodied wine, chock-full with sweet, dark fruits and a smooth finish. A great all-rounder to drink with red or white meats.

Les Secret St Chinian, €10 - This wine offers tremendous value for money. Great old world wine style - sweet Grenache backed up with spicy Syrah gives an almost baked fruit flavour while still maintaining elegant body.

Chateau Manon La Lagune, Rouge, €9 - This wine is made in the Blaye district of Bordeaux, just across the Gironde from the Medoc, made predominantly from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. This wine is light, with hints of soft plum fruits, and a leafy vegetal touch.

Domaine Cristia Grenache, Blanc, €10 - One of the best value wines of this year. Nice floral nose, crisp and light but a deceptively medium-bodied wine. Citrus, peach, and herbal notes on the palate. A great aperitif!

Sauvignon Saint Bris, €12 - This is a great, lean and mineral wine but with plenty of taut green fruits and a crisp bone-dry finish.

Chateau Lorgeril Viognier Les Terraces, €10 - Everything is done to preserve freshness in this wine, from picking the grapes in the early morning to fermenting at cool temperatures. This gives the wine a crispness and a fruitiness that is very refreshing.

La Chablisienne “Vaillons” Chablis Premier Cru, €20 - Chablis Premier Cru is classified as higher quality than simple Chablis. The limestone and clay soil has visible fossilised seashells that are believed to produce the unique flinty flavours. The purity of the Chardonnay is maintained by maturing it in stainless steel vats, delivering a tropical palate with a crisp mineral bite on a long finish. Brilliant with shellfish and seafood.

Grandes Esperances Touraine, €10 - The Loire is fast becoming the source for modern fresh wines. This shows just what can be done using the lighter Gamay grape structure with the darker, richer Malbec to provide backbone and intensity.

Saint Joseph Les Chaponnes, €12 - Made from 100 per cent Shiraz grapes from the Northern Rhone area of St Joseph, this wine has notes of blueberries and blackcurrants with a hint of violets and a zip of spiciness.

Domaine De Simonet Bourboulenc, €10 - Bourboulenc is another grape variety brought from relative obscurity by SuperValu. An indigenous grape local to the Languedoc region, this white wine has a crisp bite of acidity and a smoky undertone to the ripe, pear fruit flavour.
