Glasson’s newest eatery opens its doors

The Villager, bar and restaurant has opened its doors in Glasson.

Taking over from The Fatted Calf, who are currently in the process of relocating, The Villager is open Wednesday-Sunday for lunch and dinner, and is closed for food Monday and Tuesday. The Villager is run by husband and wife team chef Cathal Moran and Maeve Moran who manages front of house.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Cathal, former head chef at Wineport, said that The Villager hopes to offer a very relaxed dining experience and over the summer months will offer wood fire pizzas in the garden.

The Villager uses a variety of local suppliers including Horan’s Pork Butchers, Sam’s Seafood, Behan’s Fruit & Veg, and Lough Boora Organic Farm.

The menus include seafood chowder, Spanish tapas boards, barbecue duck tacos, Southern fried chicken Caesar salad, striploin, venison sausages, and smoked mozzarella and aubergine ravioli.

Of course there are also plenty of homemade desserts including baked Alaska with warm port berries, and pecan pie.
