Moate All Whites 1-11 Straffan 0-10

Moate All Whites delivered a fine display to claim the Leinster Junior Championship at Cusack Park on Sunday afternoon.

John Corbally's goal from a penalty early in the second half was the decisive blow as Moate All Whites surprised a Rob Kelly-inspired Straffan, who staged a dramatic late rally.

Early on Moate All Whites were impressive accumulating a 0-8 to 0-3 interval advantage as Straffan struggled against a determined outfit from Westmeath. Moate All Whites were quickly out of the traps hitting five points without reply to claim control of the contest.

Corbally was proving to be a sharp finisher for Moate All Whites, who went 1-9 to 0-3 in the third quarter. Straffan improved considerably as the afternoon lingered on, trimming the deficit down to four points, but Moate All Whites were never seriously troubled. Straffan’s Rory Byrne was sent off for picking up a second yellow card and Moate All Whites closed out the game to spark wild scenes of jubilation.
