The Kingcat of Keshcorran at Roscommon Arts Centre

This Friday November 21 at 6pm the gallery of Roscommon Arts Centre sees the opening of The Kingcat of Keshcorran. This is the final exhibition in the 2014 visual arts programme and with plenty of Roscommon links, this is an exhibition that will interest many.

The resulting exhibition is a film by visual artists Sean Lynch and Michael Holly that will be presented alongside items of local historical and geographical interest from the collection of Roscommon history enthusiast, Liam Byrne.

Collecting stories plays a huge role in Sean Lynch’s art practice while Liam is the collector of the objects, relics, and ephemera that document these stories.

The exhibition begins in the pages of poet and mystic Ella Young’s book The Wonder-Smith and His Son, where the main character An Gubbaun Soar roams aimlessly through a stoney landscape.

The exhibition will run until February 13, 2015.

There will be an informal talk at 6pm in the gallery with Sean, Michael, and Liam discussing the local heritage and events that influenced the exhibition. This will be followed by a wine reception. All are welcome!
