Live music at The Snug this weekend

The Snug Bar, Athlone has a spectacular line-up of live music for this bank holiday weekend.

Music fans can expect four nights of fantastic live music, with bands coming from all parts of the country to entertain the people of Athlone!

Kicking off the weekend are The Crooked Jacks from Portlaoise, on Friday night May 30. The band have played support to no less than The Wolfe Tones. They blend their love of al types of music including traditional Irish music to create a truly unique sound.

On Saturday night May 31 Beggars Velvet from Galway play The Snug. Born out of boredom with the present cover band music scene they create something different, something new, and something versatile by putting an interesting take on your favourite songs.

The Ramblers kick off Sunday night’s entertainment. They are an Athlone-based folk/pop fusion made up of cousins Jack Byrne on guitar/accordion, Billy Henshaw on banjo/mandolin/guitar, and Mark Fitzgibbon on fiddle. They incorporate a unique blend of folk, traditional, rock, bluegrass, and pop music together to form a musical partnership between numerous genres.

Afterwards V3 take to the stage. Hailing from Edenderry they are one of the liveliest young acoustic bands, playing a wide variety of songs from all genres. Sure to get the crowd on their feet.

Finally on Monday night Jig Jam take to the stage. The band are an exciting and energetic group based in Tullamore. With exhilarating melodies on the five string banjo combined with the driving rhythm of guitar and double bass, they produce a fantastic blend of modern, Irish, and folk music with a special bluegrass twist. A performance not to be missed!
