IDA to build new Athlone facility

IDA Ireland has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Athlone.

In its annual report for 2013, the IDA revealed plans to build new “advanced manufacturing facilities” in Athlone and Waterford.

The aim of the new facilities would be to “boost regional development and win new business”, in order to enhance its regional offering.

The IDA reports that 13,367 jobs were created in 2013, their fourth consecutive year of job growth. When job losses are taken into account, the net increase in employment was 7,071, the highest level of job creation in over a decade.

Over the past year there has been an 18 per cent increase in first-time investors to Ireland, with 164 projects won for Ireland in 2013.
