Drawings of the Shannon Callows region will be the focus of a week-long art exhibition in Bastion Gallery, Bastion Street, Athlone from November 23-30.
The exhibition, entitled Lakeside Reflections, will feature black-and-white realist drawings by local artist Lelia Henry.
Lelia draws her inspiration from the natural world and the drawings will feature local scenes between the Ballyglass and Greenwood areas.
“Everything is drawn from life; I draw ‘on location’ as it were... the great outdoors is my studio!” says Lelia, remembering one particularly cold week of snow in March which she spent down at the Callows.
Lelia studied art and drawing at NCAD and IADT and spent several months in Florence, Italy learning and developing her craft further. However she has always returned home where she continues to discover beautiful life scenery to draw.
This will be Lelia’s second solo exhibition. She showcased similar work in Birr, Co Offaly this summer.
