New acts unveiled for Body&Soul

Body&Soul has unveiled new Irish and international acts for this year’s line-up and a taster of the artists who will be using the midsummer festival at Ballinlough Castle, Co Westmeath from June 21-23 as their very own blank canvas.

Festival goers will be treated to something special as the legendary reggae icons, The Congos, showcase their genre defining back catalogue. The Jamaican vocal group will bring their distinctive sound to Ballinlough with the promise of truly laid back vibes and Caribbean rhythms.

UK two piece experimental electronic wizards, F*** Buttons, are also booked for their first Irish appearance in four years. Their music was featured in Danny Boyle’s opening ceremony for the Olympics in London last year.

Irish acoustic trailblazer, Wallis Bird, will perform tracks from her eponymous third album, which received significant plaudits from both domestic and international music press.

Bird will be joined by Scandinavian pop-electro all-stars, Kate Boy, who are making their first ever Irish appearance.

Transforming typical perceptions of the landscape, Ulf Mark Pederson plays with light, sound, and space, often using raw material from geographical sites to create interactive installations illustrating the natural beauty of each location.

The GamelaTron draws on the thousand-year-old sonic tradition of Indonesia - Gamelan - and the emerging field of robotics to create magical, viscerally-powerful, site-specific performances and temporary and permanent installations.

Discovering in bamboo a building and sculptural material that bends with and leverages the imagination, New York-born and Santa Barbara-based, Minakawa creates work that illustrates a beautiful craftsmanship and a dedication to sustainable artisan creativity that is similarly awe-inspiring and thought-provoking.
