Ballinlough gears up for another summer solstice festival

Body&Soul - the summer solstice festival in Ballinlough Castle - has announced that early bird tickets for 2013 have sold out. Making its fourth appearance in June this year the festival always promises to have a few surprises up its sleeve - and this year will be no exception.

In 2013, festival-goers can wave goodbye to the Friday add-on ticket and welcome instead a three-day pass to what is being hinted as a more grown-up experience at Ballinlough Castle. On the opening day and night of the festival, guests will be treated to an exclusive programme of events in the labyrinthine surroundings of the Body&Soul woodlands and cavernous Stone walled gardens with the main stage opening on the Saturday.

Happening slap bang across the summer solstice weekend June 21-23, the opening night of the festival will begin a kaleidoscopic programme of events held across the castle’s surrounds. Body&Soul enjoys a legacy of participation and guests can expect to join in its unique "otherworld" created each year, from scratch, to a different theme.

Some of the elements to be expected are: yoga in the Zen Gardens upon arrival, theatre and performance in the Orchard, an experiential arts trail, artisan food stalls, Radio Shack DJs, and progressive discussion with the Wonderlust troupe. Families will also be invited to enjoy a dedicated Soul Kids Garden.

As day turns to night, the mood and atmosphere changes and the grounds light up to highlight the mischievous nooks and crannies that Body&Soul is famed for: stumble upon a bespoke electronics stage deep in the woods; find a piano side singsong or sessions around a fire; weave your way through costumed dancers in the open-air masquerade ballroom under the stars; or slip into a bubbling hot tub under canopies in the trees...

Wherever the weekend takes you... Do it Body&Soul style.

The Body & Soul festival line-up and full details will be made available in mid-March 2013. For more information visit or follow the festival on Facebook at
