The Signatories 1916 come to life at the Mullingar Arts Centre

An exciting new Irish work, written by Patrick Waters, comes to Mullingar Arts Centre next Friday November 23. The Signatories 1916 is a poignant musical tribute to the seven men who put their names to what is arguably Ireland’s most historic document, the Irish Proclamation.

Fresh from their sell-out concert at Liberty Hall, in Dublin where – amongst others – they played for the families of the seven, The Signatories 1916 brings an extraordinary and unique theatre experience to the Mullingar Arts Centre.

Through story and song this concert will both inform and entertain you as it enhances your understanding of the humanity of these seven men. The Signatories 1916 reveals an insight into the values and beliefs that inspired them in their struggle, whilst providing a great night of music and story, bringing history to life.

Thomas James Clarke, Sean Mac Dermott, Thomas Mac Donagh, Patrick Pearse, Edward Thomas Kent, James Connolly, and Joseph Mary Plunkett - there is a song for each of the seven patriots whose signatures were affixed to that historic document. Through their songs we learn much about the personal lives of each man, and how he came to be there, on that fateful day, back in 1916 - almost a century ago now.

So, whether it’s a night of marvellous entertainment you’re after; a student interested in bringing to life the characters of the men in the history books; or anywhere in between, this is an evening which will stay with you for a long, long time.

The Signatories 1916 will be at the Mullingar Arts Centre on Friday November 23 at 8pm. Tickets are priced at €10/€18 and are available from calling (044 ) 9347777.
