Athlone native wins award at 12th Annual National Student Media Awards

Athlone native, Ciaran O’Connor, wins two awards at the Student Media Awards for Journalism relating to Road Safety (sponsored by the RSA ) and also for the awards’ newest category, Best Written, Audio, or Visual Work in Science or Education, sponsored by the HEA.

Awarded Bank of Ireland’s Student of the Year in his last year in Athlone Community College, Ciaran is now studying Communications in DCU. September will see him take up the role of station manager of DCU’s very own radio station DCUfm. Ciaran also claims to have poked President Michael D Higgins in the cheek with a microphone during his election campaign last year.
