Abbey Road Artists’ Studios host Architecture Republic exhibition

You are invited to Abbey Road Artists’ Studios in Athlone for IN-HOUSE: An exhibition of domestic works by Architecture Republic.

The exhibition will run from Friday February 17 to Friday March 2. Opening times are Monday to Saturday 1pm-4pm. On Friday February 17 at 5.30pm there will be a wine reception and an introduction by Maxim Laroussi of Architecture Republic.

The theme of the exhibition is the act of making domestic space; investigating innovative ways of housing the modern family in all its variants. As society develops and evolves, the accepted standard of the family house is no longer as relevant as it once was, and as a society we must adapt and grow our housing stock in ways which meet the challenges of this new orthodoxy. The exhibition will explore a variety of refurbishments, extensions, conversions, and new-build housing on urban-infill sites. It consists of 20 projects each accompanied by drawings, images, and a model.

Maxim Laroussi, born in Fez, Morocco moved to France at an early age. He graduated from PUC Campinas, Brazil in 1998 and UCD, Dublin in 2002 with a BArch. He lived and worked as an architect in various countries including the UK, France, Brazil, and Ireland before setting up Architecture Republic in Dublin 2005. He was president of the Architectural Association of Ireland from 2005-6 and currently teaches at the School of Architecture University Limerick.

Architecture Republic is an architecture and design firm based in Dublin and Lyon, France under the leadership of Maxim Laroussi. The practice is concerned with the conceptual research and analysis of each commission through design studies in the field of architecture, urbanism, and landscape design as well as interdisciplinary collaborative work in art, graphic design, theatre, etc.
