Seafood awards for SuperValu and Glasson Village Restaurant

There was great news for two local businesses this week as a local supermarket and restaurant both achieved membership of the prestigious Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM ) Seafood Circle for 2012.

Smith’s SuperValu, Monksland, Athlone and Glasson Village Restaurant were both delighted to retain membership. The Seafood Circle champions retail and hospitality outlets that continually offer excellent quality seafood and service to their customers.

Smith’s SuperValu first became a member in 2011. They offer a wide range of fresh seafood, from salmon, cod, and whiting, to more exotic fishes such as monkfish, John Dory, tuna, and swordfish, to shellfish such as mussels. With deliveries six days a week, you can enjoy fresh seafood all week. For suggestions on how to cook or serve fish, or for free recipes, please ask any of the fish counter staff.

Store manager Tim Dolan said; “We intend on using the endorsement to continue to grow the range of quality fish and seafood we offer to our customers. We have worked hard to ensure we deliver excellent high quality seafood and service to our customers and I would like to thank all our fish counter staff for collectively achieving the Seafood Circle.”

Glasson Village Restaurant is the only restaurant member of the Seafood Circle in the Midlands. All produce is locally sourced. They offer a wide variety of seasonal menus with the catch of the day always a popular choice. Glasson Village Restaurant with its newly acquired restaurant drinks licence is an ideal venue for intimate weddings and parties. It is open for Sunday lunch and dinner six days a week.

Proprietor of Glasson Village Restaurant, Michael Brooks, said “We would like to thank our suppliers and staff who collectively have helped us achieve membership of the Seafood Circle. We would like to thank all of our customers who enjoy our fresh seafood and allow us to supply such a wide variety and we appreciate their continued support.”
