Concern ESB tweet drive travels through Westmeath to raise much needed funds

Comedian Joe Rooney of Kllinascully and Fr Ted fame will be performaing in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone today at 12.40pm free of charge and in aid of Concern, and all are welcome.

It’s all part of ESB Electric Ireland’s charity fun drive, Tweet ‘em home for Christmas from Dublin to Galway and back.

ESB Electric Ireland has given each of the three teams €10,000 and the winners will get an extra €20,000 for their chosen charity.

The three cars, Concern’s DeLorean, Irish Cancer Society’s New York Taxi, and ISPCC’s electric powered car are being powered by tweets and likes on Facebook.

There will be a pit stop at Belvedere House outside Mullingar at 3pm on Friday and then later between 3pm and 4pm there is a scheduled stop at Annebrook House in Mullingar, where there will be a public challenge. Just turn up and you’ll find out all about it.

The car that gets the most tweets and Facebook likes today will be deemed the winner.

The Concern team, headed by singer Mundy and comedian Joe Rooney, is travelling in a DeLorean car driven by Ian O’Flynn.

The Dunmurry-built DeLorean will stop at the Sheraton Hotel in Athlone, at Belvedere House, and Annebrook House in Mullingar, where Concern followers will be out in force to cheer them on.
