Calling all mums-to-be - are you ready for the birth of your baby? Can you ever be ready for that life changing moment when you hold your baby for the first time? Now you can, by optimising your health during pregnancy and improving your physical and emotional well being with a pregnancy and birth workshop.
Nutritional consultant Cathriona Hodgins is hosting this workshop in Circle of Life Athlone on June 25 from 10am to 3pm. This workshop aims to empower women during their pregnancy so they can make the right choices for themselves and their baby.
The workshop will focus on nutrition to benefit you and your baby, antenatal exercise, and labour and delivery support.
Be better prepared for birth by improving your nutritional status for you and your baby. Did you know that the essential fatty acids found in oily fish, nuts, and seeds are important for the baby’s developing brain especially during the last trimester? Studies show that these good fats also have a role to play in preventing postnatal depression.
Chartered physiotherapist Helen Dowling will show you how to adapt well to the changes of pregnancy and to prepare for labour with guidelines for exercise during pregnancy to help prevent low back pain and pelvic girdle pain and practice positions for the first and second stages of labour.
Take the fear out of childbirth with an introduction to HypnoBirthing by Siobhan Byrne of Harmony Hypnosis, a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing, and stress-free method of birthing. HypnoBirthing teaches you the art and joy of experiencing birth in a more comfortable manner. You will learn to call upon your body’s own natural relaxant and thus lessen or eliminate discomfort and the need for medication.
A local midwife will be on hand to guide you through the stages of labour and what to expect when you enter the labour ward.
This is a unique opportunity to join other mums-to-be and learn the key elements for a healthy and happy pregnancy as well as speak to a local midwife in a small group environment.
For further details and bookings call Cathriona Hodgins on (087 ) 6355643 or mail [email protected]. Cost €40 including lunch.
