A qualification in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy at ICPPD

The International College for Personal and Professional Development, Athlone, is offering various training and educational programmes which promote a holistic approach to well-being. The programmes include a one year foundation certificate course in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy, and a three year diploma, part-time, professional qualification in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy. They also offer many other programmes and workshops for the public and for professionals in the field of psychological therapies.

The professional qualification in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy is a three year part-time diploma which meets the criteria of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and qualifies learners to practitioner level.

Holistic comes from the word whole. This approach to health looks at the role that the mind, body, emotions, and spirit have to play in our general well-being. In other words, it takes the whole person into account. A holistic approach may mean re-evaluating your lifestyle, how you live and what you eat. It also takes into account the part which stress can play in your daily life. Holistic living is about helping you with your choice of lifestyle. It means getting to know yourself better and discovering what is best for you.

Christine Moran president of ICPPD says, “Furthermore, it’s built upon the notion that mind, body, and spirit are not entirely separate and distinct realms and that all three affect and interact with one another in ways which we might not always expect. All programmes at ICPPD are rooted in a holistic approach, where the whole person is seen and appreciated, creativity is encouraged and applauded, and all of this is supported by an academic framework, thus the marriage and integration of all aspects of the human being is promoted. At ICPPD we integrate traditional training in counselling with a truly holistic approach.”
