Druid bring The Cripple of Inishmaan to Roscommon

Renowned theatre company Druid bring Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan to Roscommon Arts Centre for three performances only from Thursday to Saturday January 27 to 29. There are a very limited number of seats left for what is one of the highlights of the theatrical season. These three performances mark the beginning of a major 21-week tour and Roscommon Arts Centre is delighted to welcome Druid to the town for their first performance here.

The Cripple of Inishmaan is McDonagh’s most accessible play, infused with his trademark humour and eccentric characters. The production revives the unique relationship between writer Martin McDonagh, Tony Award-winning director Garry Hynes, and the widely-acclaimed Druid ensemble.

Druid’s production of Martin McDonagh’s The Leenane Trilogy (The Beauty Queen of Leenane, A Skull in Connemara, and The Lonesome West ) in the late 90s received widespread acclaim and The Beauty Queen of Leenane went on to win four Tony Awards for Druid on Broadway.

Local group Sanctuary Players will perform The Beauty Queen of Leenane in Roscommon Arts Centre on March 25 and 26. The playwright, Martin McDonagh is well known for his film In Bruges which was released in 2008.
