Open night announced for new production of Seussical the Musical

Mullingar Charity Variety Group has announced that preparations for their 14th show, and 6th full musical, Seussical the Musical are about to begin.

“The choice of show is perfect for many reasons,” says Ray McDonnell of Mullingar Chairity Variety Group. “We wanted to bring everyone together, adults and children alike, to experience something as remarkable as our 2006/2007 production, Honk! Now, above all times, it seems a good idea, almost necessary, to get the group together and to invite new members...to create something joyful, soulful, energetic, and inspiring... We are doing this as much for all of us (our existing members and the new members that we are about to meet ) that will be involved onstage, offstage, backstage and even building-the-stage, as we are for the audiences who will clap their hands off next March.”

Based on the beloved characters and stories of Dr Seuss, Seussical the Musical incorporates elements from at least 15 Dr Seuss books and includes appearances by many of his most famous characters. It is set in both the Jungle of Nool, home to many zany animal-esque characters, and of course, in Whoville, wherein reside the Mayor and Mayoress of the town, their child Jo-jo who is a thinker with a wild imagination, General Genghis Khan Schmitz, the Grinch, and many other Whos of all ages!

Mullingar Charity Variety Group will be hosting an open night for existing and any interested new members at St Mary’s CBS Junior School at 8pm on Tuesday November 2 and all are welcome.

At the open night the group will provide details of the forthcoming production and let first-timers know what this group is about. Also, interested adults may obtain audition-packs on the night. The adult auditions will be held on Thursday 11 November 2010. Rehearsals for Seussical the Musical will begin on Tuesday November 16 and the show is planned for performance at the Mullingar Park Hotel during March 2011.
