Health top of the class in Moate

Convent Primary School in Moate launched their new Healthy School Policy recently, which they created as part of the HSE’s Schools’ ACE (Activity Confidence Eating ) Project.

The primary school is one of only four in Westmeath to develop a Healthy School Policy through the ACE project. The policy contains information on healthy eating, physical activity, dental health, and confidence for all members of the school.

The health team also made changes to activities taking place in the school, which now include allowing children to have water bottles on their desks to help their concentration; providing sports equipment that pupils can play with during lunch time; ongoing ACE schools healthy events through the school year; nutrition education in class and physical activity throughout the year; and healthy rewards for good class work.

If you would like more information about the ACE Schools Project or would like your school to get involved, contact Community Nutrition & Dietetic Service, Mullingar at (044 ) 9353220 or email [email protected].
