All roads lead to Johnstown

A huge crowd is expected in Johnstown this Sunday evening at 6pm as the home side take on neighbours St Brigid’s in the quarter-final of the Roscommon SFC. The two big guns of South Roscommon football will battle it out for a place in the last four.

While St Brigid’s will wear the favourites tag, home advantage is a major plus to Clann na nGael. St Brigid’s are expected to have a full hand to pick from apart from Mark O’Carroll and will be looking to the likes of Peter Domican, Karol Mannion, John Tiernan, Frankie Dolan, Senan Kilbride, and Cathal McHugh for leadership.

Dessie Dolan’s men will undoubtedly be looking for big performances from the likes of county stars Donie Shine and Johnny Dunning as well as David Flynn, Niall McManus, and Cathal Duignan.

I expect St Brigid’s greater experience and balance should see them safely through to the last four but it could be dangerous to back against Donie Shine on his home patch.
