Coláiste Chiaráin secondary school to be officially opened on Friday

Coláiste Chiaráin co-ed secondary school will be officially opened on Friday afternoon.

School patron, Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran will conduct the formal opening, with Government representative, local Minister of State, Deputy Peter Burke, expected to attend the official ceremony also. The official opening will be followed by a tour of the new school facilities and refreshments.

Students have been attending the new school building in Summerhill since August 2020, a project which was constructed by contractor JJ Rhatigan.

Designed to cater for up to 1,000 students, the completed Coláiste Chiaráin school building now houses a gymnasium and fitness suite, six science laboratories, a library and canteen, and 37 general classrooms.

Founded in 2017, as an amalgamation of St Aloysius College and St Joseph’s College, Summerhill, there are presently 770 students enrolled in Coláiste Chiaráin.
