O’Connor clan tops in annual golf outing

Buccaneers ‘Golf and BBQ’ event proved hugely successful, attracting a full entry list to Glasson Lakehouse’s panoramic course on July 19. The O’Connor clan, with flying winger Rory, proving he can score just as readily on the greens as easily as he poaches tries in the All-Ireland League, prevailed as the top team on a score of 107 points. Rory also claimed the ‘Nearest the Pin’ award. Rory’s team members were his father Gabriel, John O’Connor and Iggy O’Brien.

Micheal O’Faolain’s team were pipped by a single point for the prime spot on their score of 106. His teammates were Michael Downes, Willie Owens and Seamus Feeney.

Michael Walsh led his team, which had a 50/50 gender mix, to third place on a score of 101 points. Melita Walsh, Louise Quinn and Barry Reidy were his comrades.

Another member of Buccaneers exciting backline, Michael Hanley, proved he is equally adroit with the driver as he is with his place-kicking when clinching the ‘Longest Drive’ prize.

Buccaneers RFC thank all who supported this fund-raiser by participating or sponsoring with particular thanks to Glasson Lakehouse where the course was in splendid condition. The prizes will be presented to the winners at Buccaneer’s first home AIL fixture v Old Wesley on October 8.
