Backstage at The Snug Bar returns with ‘Hindsight Foresight for Gobshites’

Following a two year break, Backstage at The Snug Bar returns with the popular production of 'Hindsight Foresight for Gobshites'.

Margaret McKenna Mullan and her cast are bursting with excitement to perform this highly entertaining and fast-paced comedy play which delivers relentless laughter and promises to be the perfect night out. Audiences thoroughly enjoyed this play when it was performed in December 2019 and a similar jovial atmosphere is guaranteed when the show commences its run on March 23.

Set in modern-day Ireland it tells the story of Mary Kate O’Toole, an independent widow who is happy out doing her own thing - bingo twice a week, the Clara market every Sunday and the odd visit from her out of the ordinary neighbour Jackie who is always seeking advice on how to catch a wife.

Mary Kate also enjoys the odd sup and an auld fag when she receives her weekly visit from Clare the highly inefficient health nurse. The house never empties of strange callers, even the evangelists call to her. However, mayhem ensues with the return of her long-absent son Vivian!

Paddy Broder aka Paddy the Painter returns to the stage in another hilarious role as Vivian O’Toole who returns home unexpectedly and turns his poor mammy’s life upside down and inside out! Margaret McKenna Mullan plays Vivienne’s poor Mammy and is joined on stage by John McGlynn who plays the role of the neighbouring farmer who is only mad for a wife.

We are also delighted to welcome back Seamus McKenna and Paul Slevin who play the comical and crafty Evangelists and no stranger to the stage, Anne Hoey, plays the highly inefficient health nurse.

This play is directed by none other than Jackie Madden. A native of Moate, she is well known for directing sell out drama productions in Athlone and Moate with Rosemount and Tubber drama groups and is renowned for her comedy productions.

The show commences on Tuesday, March 23 and will run every Tuesday and Wednesday night for four weeks only.

Tickets, priced €15, are available now to pre-book by calling Gillian on 0892446546.

A night of laughter is guaranteed!
