New Toyota Corolla hybrid van on the way this summer

Toyota will launch a Corolla hybrid van in Ireland this summer. It will be manufactured in its UK plant, alongside other Corolla models.

It should be the first full hybrid electric van in this segment, and using familiar Toyota “self-charging” technology.

Toyota is estimating a combined cycle (WLTP ) fuel economy of 55.3 – 62.7mpg with 102 – 115g/km CO2 emissions. A provisional figure for towing capacity (subject to homologation ) is estimated to be 750kg (braked ).

The new hybrid van is based on the Corolla Touring Sports Wagon, with the rear seats removed and replaced with a lined load area (1,558mm long, 952mm wide and 682mm high ). Expect a full metal bulkhead will be standard too.

Toyota has been re-building an LCV range to add to its Land Cruiser Commercial and Toyota Hilux stalwarts. It has added the Proace Electric van and recently the more compact Proace City Electric van. The Corolla hybrid van will add a further string to the automaker’s bow from this summer.
