Athlone Toastmaster wins prestigious international competition

Athlone Toastmaster, Siobhan Keenan-Fitzgerald, recently achieved notable success at the International Toastmasters Topic competition.

A member of Athlone Toastmasters Club for 17 years, Siobhan is a very competent speaker and has won many awards including Ted Talk and the International Soap Box competition.

She produced a programme on speaking for national schools for called ‘Stand’ and introduced it on Dragons Den.

She has competed at this level before numerous times. It was a tremendous accolade for Siobhan, her family and the Athlone Toastmasters Club to take first prize having achieved success at club, area division and district levels. She competed against approximately 1000 clubs from Ireland and England over the duration of the competition.

Siobhan’s chosen topic was ‘What life lesson did you learn the hard way?’. Siobhan always has a great command of words and thoughts and delivered a unique twist on the topic bringing all her life experiences and finally taking the hardest journey of all the conquest within.

Siobhan is married with four children and a teaching school principal. Originally from Ferbane, she is now living in Ahascragh. She has three siblings, Agnes, Mike and Francis, all of whom compete in Toastmasters competitions.

Mike Keenan was also a competitor at district Level in the Speech Contest representing Tullamore Toastmasters Club.
