Olive provides adult counselling for a wide variety of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, workplace stress, overwhelming feelings, relationships, personal development, low mood, grief and loss.

Olive’s background is in Business (BA ) having worked in management for many years and she is also available to provide talks or workshops around mental health and wellbeing, stress, resilience and active listening in the workplace.

Olive’s counselling room is located at the Left Bank Mall, Pearse Street, Athlone.

“The world and our pace of life has slowed down as we struggle to adjust to a new normality and there are less activities and places to go to distract ourselves.

“As a result of this slower pace of life many people may be noticing an increased awareness around their own anxiety levels, overwhelming feelings or may experience difficulty coping during this time.

“Before COVID-19 we had been managing increasingly busy lifestyles and as a result there was little time for self-care. It’s so important that we implement self-care for our physical, mental and spiritual health. How do I look after myself? Do I read, walk, spend time in nature, spend time with friends, do things I enjoy or nourish my body with good food, how are my coping skills?

“If you are unsure where to begin or how to support your mental health, visiting your GP and a Counsellor can be great places to start.

“Counselling provides a safe and confidential space to explore feelings or challenges you may be facing with someone who is trained to listen and provide support.

“I also offer some low cost counselling slots for anyone who may be in receipt of social welfare. You can follow Balance Counselling Athlone on Facebook or Instagram to check out more self-care tips,” Olive commented.
