Citroen C3 and C5 versions are tops in diesel awards

Citroen’s stylish C5 Tourer and the all-new C3 Picasso have been named “Best Estate Car” and “Best MPV” respectively at the 2009 What Diesel Car of the Year Awards.

The dynamic Citroen C5 Tourer saw off 30 contenders to take top spot in the “Best Estate Car” category. It particularly impressed the award judges with its excellent economy, refinement and great ride quality. What Diesel commented; “The Citroen C5 Tourer is a quantum leap forward from its predecessor, and recalibrates what to expect from an elongated hatchback load-carrier.”

The 1.6 HDi 110 engine offers exceptional fuel efficiency, offering 53.3mpg on the combined cycle. Every HDi unit is fitted with Citroen’s Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS ), which virtually eliminates particle emissions. With CO2 emissions of less than 140g/km the 1.6HDi 110 bhp falls into band B for road tax purposes at a cost of just €156 per annum.

The C3 Picasso is already collecting awards before it goes on sale, the What Diesel award for “Best MPV” is the second major accolade for the car having already been named Top Gear’s Family Car of the Year 2009.

The Citroen C5 has been amassing awards throughout Europe since it was launched in mid 2008, including the prestigious Semperit Irish Car of the Year 2009.

For a limited time Citroen tells us that they are offering a '€4000 Eco Trade-in Cash Back' offer on their award winning range of cars. If you trade-in your old car for the greener C5 and receive an Eco trade-in cash back of up to €4000. Citroen say that switching your petrol car powered family car to a new HDi diesel could cut €1300 from your annual motoring costs. The Citroen offers are available up to April 30.
