Ford has unveiled its new SUV inspired compact crossover, the Ford Puma, which is expected in Ireland before the end of the year.

Lord boasts that it fuses a stunning exterior design, best-in-class uncompromised load space capacity of 456 litres, and a sophisticated mild-hybrid powertrain technology.

Powered by the latter, it boast Ford’s EcoBoost Hybrid 48-volt technology, its mild-hybrid powertrain integrates pulling-power assistance with a 3cyl 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine to deliver up to 155 PS, but also offered in 125 PS variant.

Anticipated CO2 emissions will be from 123g/km with 5.4 l/100km consumption for the 125 PS version. Corresponding figures for the 155PS version are 124g/km, 5.4 l/100km.

It will have ‘Adaptive Cruise Control’ with ‘Stop and Go’, new local hazard warning, wireless charging and 12.3ins digital instrument cluster.

Ford also says that the Puma is also the first vehicle in its segment to offer hands-free tailgate and Lumbar Massage Seat comfort and convenience technologies.

The new Puma joins Ford’s expanding line-up of SUV and SUV-inspired crossover models in Europe, including the Fiesta Active, Focus Active, EcoSport, Kuga, and the all-new Explorer Plug-In Hybrid. SUVs now account for more than one in five Ford vehicles sold in Europe, and sales rose more than 19 percent in 2018.

Puma will go on sale at the end of the year, but no prices have yet been announced.
