Athlone Cricket Club maintain winning start to season

Athlone Cricket Club maintained their unbeaten start to their league campaign when they accounted for the challenge of Leinster 7s on Saturday afternoon.

The home team won the coin toss and elected to bat but a confident Athlone team displayed admirable features of poise and skill to bowl their opponents out after 129 runs, a very attainable target.

Sent in to bat, the visitors chased down the batting target set and were quickly in full flow, as scorers in chief, Venkat and Varun, achieved 30 and 28 runs respectively.

Their accuracy and stable power with the bat realised victory for Athlone as the team scored 131/3 inside 15 overs to won the contest by seven wickets.

So, a rewarding journey for Athlone Cricket Club, as the visitors continue their winning start to the cricketing season with a home game against Tyrellstown 3 on Sunday afternoon beckoning, where a third consecutive is within their capabilities.
