Fine Gael Councillor welcomes allocation of funds for road upgrades

Cllr. John Naughten has welcomed the allocation of €40,000 for the upgrade of the road network servicing the Cluain Broc, Daneshill and Danesfort estates in Monksland.

“Roscommon County Council intends to undertake these works under the 2019 roads programme to bring these road up to an acceptable standard. At present the road network is in quite a poor condition and this funding allocation will be welcome news to local residents who use these routes on an ongoing basis,” Cllr. Naughten commented.

St. Coman’s Park footpaths survey

Meanwhile, the Fine Gael Councillor has confirmed he is to raise the issue of the current condition of footpaths in the St. Coman’s Park estate in Monksland with Roscommon County Council.

“I will be asking the Council to survey the footpaths with a view to upgrading them, particularly as this is one of the older estates in Monksland and some of the paths are now in a very poor condition.

“There are quite a number of elderly residents in this estate and I will be asking the Council to address the condition of the footpaths as a matter of urgency to bring them to an acceptable standard for pedestrians in the area,” Cllr. Naughten remarked.
