League table put Midlands Hospital in top three – Bannon

Longford/Westmeath Fine Gael Deputy James Bannon has said that he is delighted that the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar has scored so highly in the new HSE monthly performance table, published this week through Healthstat. It is placed among the top three hospitals in the country.

“Healthstat compiles and compares information of hospital performance on a monthly basis. Such programmes have brought rigour to problem solving in hospitals internationally. They focus on performance results for individual hospitals, identifying reasons for successes and support plans for improvement

“The Mullingar hospital is a valuable facility for the Midlands and has proved time and time again that it is working to a very high standard, despite the Minister for Health’s failure to meet her promises to complete Phase 2B of the hospital’s infrastructural development.

“We have waited for well over a decade but the essential health infrastructure for the Midlands, namely the completion of Phase 2B of Mullingar Regional Hospital remains an aspiration,” he said.

“This has been accomplished despite the actions of the Minister and the HSE. One obstacle after another has been overcome by the Mullingar Hospital and a very fine facility has emerged, of which we can be justifiably proud.”
