Seán Canney TD met with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in Tuam last Friday evening, when Mr Varadkar confirmed that funding was available in the HSE capital budget to proceed with the refurbishment of the Old Grove site.
The HSE has received planning permission to refurbish the old Grove hospital building. The proposal includes the establishment of a mental health day hospital and a unit to serve people with disabilities.
“Confirmation from the Taoiseach that funding has been ring fenced for this project adds to the other investments in healthcare facilities in Tuam.
“In all, in excess of €40 million is being spent on the health campus in Tuam,” said Dep Canney.
