The building was originally built by the Murray family in the 1930s and over the next 60 years it served the community as a grocery shop and post office. There are many Galway people who fondly remember spending their pocket money on sweets and ice cream in Murrays! The shop closed in the 1990s but the family continued to live above it. In 2016 Doireann, great-grand-daughter of the original Mr. Murray, re-opened the business as a coffee shop and bakery.
