The first events went off at 11am and continued until 7pm - a hectic schedule due to record entries.

There were some fantastic performances from Galway athletes at the Connacht Schools championships in Athlone, most notably in the senior boys’ 5000m where Jamie Fallon (Calasanctius Oranmore) scorched around the track in an incredible 15.04, a top-class time and a breakthrough performance for the young athlete, who also runs with Craughwell AC.
