The Fulacht Fia Chairde Ghaillimh le Gaeilge took place in Builín Blasta in Ceardlann an Spidéil last week. It was the Fulacht Fia’s first time to move outside of Galway city and it was a great success. During the event, Cairde Gaillimh le Gaeilge enjoyed strolling among the beautiful craft shops in the Ceardlann. The wonderful Emer Killian and her fantastic team served delicious food, (all as Gaeilge) the guests were entertained with excellent music by Mike Stewart and Maria Fahy.

2018 has been another busy year for Gaillimh le Gaeilge as Galway businesses continue to invest in the Irish language. Cairde Ghaillimh le Gaeilge were in celebratory mood as they kicked off the festive season at their ‘Cóisir Nollag’ in Club Áras na nGael recently. This year, the organisation celebrated 30 years in business and at the event Cathaoirleach Ghaillimh le Gaeilge, Bernadette Mullarkey, welcomed the Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr. Pearce Flannery and thanked him, fellow Councillors and Chief Executive, Brendan McGrath for the funding of €50,000 to Gaillimh le Gaeilge for 2018.

The Irish language is worth €136 million annually to Galway, and Galway city businesses are capitalising on this by increasing the use of the Irish language in the day-to-dayrunning of their businesses.
