Mayo County Council arts service have announced the launch of their new UPSTART website at www.mayo-upstart.ie. UPSTART is an initiative of Mayo County council arts service celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities annually in December. In an effort to document and promote the work of the UPSTART programme, Mayo County Council Arts Service has developed the UPSTART website which was designed by Brett Henning.

The exhibition entitled Paper, Light and Shadow will open in Claremorris Library on Wednesday evening. Custom House Studios hosts Quadrants, an exhibition of paintings by Tom Climent opening at Custom House Studios, Westport Quay, on Thursday January 26 at 7.30pm. The exhibition runs every day until February 19. Tom Climent is a painter from Cork. His recent works focus on creation of a structured space, while investigating the boundaries between abstraction and representation.
This photograph of the corner of New Dock Street and Flood Street dates from the 1930s. The large three-storey house on Flood Street was formerly known as ‘The Dispensary’ and was the property of the Poor Law Guardians. It was obviously occupied by a doctor. It was in this house that the McDonogh dynasty began in Galway.
