Buccaneers RFC mourns the recent passing of Dan O’Dowd. Dan was Senior captain of Athlone Rugby Football Club for the seasons 1963/66, the first player to skipper the club for three years. Sincere condolences are extended to his wife Emer, sons Shane and Alastair, and extended family. May he rest in eternal peace.

The agreement between Fianna Fáil and Independent councillors for control of Mayo County Council, that has stood for the past five years, looks set to be extended for the duration of the new county council term, which sits for the first time this morning (Friday, June 7) at 11am.

Young mothers' group in Ballinrobe

On Sunday the Carra Classic 8k was won by John Byrne (Mayo AC) in 27:29 - the first woman home was Kathy Gleeson (Claremorris) in 30:56. The Carra Classic is part of the Great Lakes series of spring races and 160 competitors made it to the finish line.
