Youth work activism workshop

An event aimed at youth workers, managers, teachers, and those looking to develop their skills in the area of global issues and activism in youth work, will take place in Galway.

Courses for youth workers

A six-day long training course for youth leaders working with teenagers and young adults, which is facilitated by the Family Centre, Castlebar, and the Co Mayo VEC Youth Office, will take place on one Saturday per month from 10am to 3.30pm, from September 26 (cost €50). Mental health promotion

MindOut is a mental health promotion programme for young people aged 15 to 17. It is offering training to youth workers, tutors, teachers, and anyone who works with groups of young people. For further details contact number as above. There are also courses in intercultural training for youth workers which will take place in October 2009 and Keeping Safe training for November. Castlebar youth organisation receives arts funding

Comhairle Shóisearach Mhaigh Eo based in Newtown, Castlebar, has been awarded €5,000 under the Artist in Youth Work Scheme run by the National Youth Council of Ireland’s Youth Arts programme to script and edit a documentary on local politics and how young people can have a voice in matters which affect them at a local and national level.
