It is the call every parent dreads; the words that tear lives apart forever; a tragedy that devastates entire families and communities. Thousands of people in Ireland have had their lives torn apart as the result of the loss of a loved one to suicide.

Criticising the opposition for continuing to “play politics with the SNA issue”, Fine Gael's spokesperson on social protection Senator Fidelma Healy Eames has called for parents of children with special needs to be the Government's central focus by providing specialised help and support.

Young people have a natural interest in using modern technologies such as internet and social networking sites like Facebook. These technologies can be very beneficial when used properly but there are some dangers too. This programme will highlight simple ways which will help to keep our children safe. The awards, which celebrate the best of social media, are organised by Damien Mulley, one of Ireland’s leading authorities on social media. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges comprising a combination of industry experts and members of the public who have been selected as judges because of their interest and knowledge in online social networking.
