Councillor Keith Martin has called on the OPW and Fáilte Ireland to meet with Westport Town Council to discuss the future of Westport’s Tourist Office.

Get ready for a whole week of exciting activities in the great outdoors around Westport and join in to both free and ticketed events. The Westport Duathlon Weekend event marks the beginning of an extensive activity programme for the Westport Get Out There Festival, organised by Westport Town Council and Westport Leisure Park, and runs from Saturday June 8 to Saturday June 15.

The Darkness into Light Mayo event, in aid of Pieta House, will take place on Saturday May 11 in the grounds of Westport House. The 5km fundraising walk/run begins in darkness at 4am and ends as dawn is breaking.

The winners of the Wacky Helmet competition will be announced at the Wacky Travel Parade.

Starting on July 29, Westport will take part on Fiver Fridays, a campaign which was initiated on Liveline with Joe Duffy. The idea is that €5 spent by four million people is €20million spent in the local economy.

Westport based media productions and communications company, Maigh Eo Media has been shortlisted for a prestigious All-Ireland Marketing Award this week from the Marketing Institute of Ireland.
